It just needs new batteries

We've had an Internet outage for much of tonight.  It was significantly frustrating.  Typically on Wednesday nights I use Google Talk to connect with the Worship Planning team at the Journey offices.  When the Internet is down, Google Talk is out of the question.  Our home phone relies on the Internet as well.  So, I had to use my mobile minutes to call Time Warner and then Journey.

What makes all this even more frustrating is that I pay a higher fee each month to Time Warner for Business Class service.  To their credit, the outage was not during normal business hours, but I work with West Coast offices on a regular basis and missed 3 hours of prime work hours with them.

Josiah was annoyed like his father.  He was attempting to play Nick Jr. on the family computer.  When he realized it wasn't working, he simply pointed out to me that "it probably needs new batteries."  I don't know what this says about his approach to problem solving.  I suggested this to the tech from Time Warner, but I don't think he followed me.

The only consolation is that it was not an outage isolated to me.  Had that been the case, they would have waited until tomorrow to fix it.  Apparently it affected 140 people, and I was just lucky to be among them.

Well, it's a good thing I didn't try to have a game with you last night. Thought about it around 9:15 but figured you'd be tired and ready for bed. We got a little bit of rain last night. Usually, when storms come through we also lose connection but unlike Time Warner, no matter how many people are affected they don't come out till the next day (unless the hunting or fishing is good) to fix it. Have a great day. Love Dad
