Family Fun Nights

We decided to take advantage of the really nice days we have had recently. On this night, we went for a 3 mile walk in the Miami Bluffs neighborhood. It was such a nice time together as a family.

Another night, we rode down the street to the field to fly kites. The wind wasn't very strong, so daddy and the kids did a LOT of running to keep the kite up :) Si rode his bike to the field.

I think Josie had the most fun. She loved chasing the kite all through the field. Her giggle just cracked me up.

Devotions with Daddy

We end every night with devotions with daddy. The kids have a special book we read out of with a Bible Verse and Phrase they repeat every night. This has become a special time and the kids remind us that it is time for devotions before they go to bed.

Let's Go Bananas!

We had a busy yet fun week around here. We went to Bananas to play with our neighbors Amy and her daughter Maddie and Kim and her daughters Maddie and Kaitlyn. We had a great time, although it is hard climbing the ladders of those slides with Josie in tow :)

 

Josiah and Annie had races up the wall to the big slide on the other side. They had so much fun with this.

Annie had Open House at her Kindergarten. All the kids dressed up as Nursery Rhyme characters and recited their rhymes for the parents. Annie was "the little old lady who lived in a shoe". She did awesome!

 

We had a good time being shown around the classroom by Annie. We got to see her journal and lots of other things she had done in the classroom (even her letter to Obama in which she said "I love you"....I suppose we need to have a chat with her...:)

Park Day with Daddy

Nathan took a half day off to spend time with us at the park. It was so much fun. The kids love unexpected time with daddy. This is their favorite thing at Schappacher park, the merry go round!

 

 

Josie thinks she has to walk through all these tubes. She is hilarious.

One of our favorite things about this park is the Dog Park. Here Josie and her cousin Layla are watching the dogs and saying, "Let us in!"

A Sunny Day at the Zoo

We decided one sunny morning to go to the zoo. I especially enjoyed it because it was just me and my kids. We had such a nice time and it was a beautiful day!

 

The kids loved this friendly goat although he tried to eat our map.

The giraffe exhibit is incredible. You can even feed the giraffes if you want to. They eat the food right out of your hand!

Our Trip to Chicago

Nathan and I had our first weekend away from kids since we had them! It was such a nice time and we enjoyed ourselves immensely. We got in Saturday night and got dressed up and walked 5 blocks away to Zappatista's Restaurant (which was a casual Mexican joint but candlelit so that was nice). Then we headed back to the hotel and to bed somewhat early ;) 

We got up Sunday at 4 am to get ready for our AGT tryouts. We got there at 8 am and did not try out until 8 pm. LONG day!  But we met a lot of interesting people and had such a nice time to just be together. We ended the night at Connie's Pizzeria (authentic Chicago Pizza). We ordered a BBQ Supreme Deep Dish (it was awesome) and some kind of Banana Pudding Cake for dessert. We had barely eaten all day so we were starving. Then, we headed back for some more shut eye.

Monday, we got up and went to the gym to workout but it cost $18 a person so we decided to just run on the track (3 miles). Then, we hit the town of Chicago. We walked about 4 miles and then stopped for lunch did some shopping and then took the Subway back to the hotel and headed home. it was a whirlwind weekend but I wouldn't trade it for anything. And now I am really excited about our 10 year anniversary trip!!

 

Not called the "windy city" for nothing :)
